In certain instances, root canal treatment may need to be re-done, which is called a retreatment. Typically this occurs if the tooth has extra nerves that may have not been fully cleaned out with the initial treatment. Our modern technology allows us to find those extra nerves and clean them to eliminate the pain or infection that is present. In short, root canal retreatment is almost identical to the original procedure.
